Job Summary:
I am currently working with a leader in the Medical Device space who is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Vice President of Mechanical Engineering to lead their Mechanical Engineering team and oversee the development and execution of Mechanical Engineering projects.
As the Vice President of Mechanical Engineering, you will be responsible for managing the technical and operational aspects of the Mechanical Engineering department, including product design, prototyping, testing, and quality assurance. You will work closely with the executive leadership team to develop and implement strategies that drive innovation and growth while ensuring operational efficiency and profitability.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Mechanical Engineering department across multiple manufacturing sites, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Develop and implement Engineering strategies that align with the company's overall business objectives, including product design, prototyping, testing, and quality assurance.
- Manage and mentor the Mechanical Engineering team, ensuring that they are motivated, engaged, and have the skills and resources necessary to perform their jobs effectively.
- Collaborate with other departments, including product development, operations, marketing, manufacturing, and quality control to ensure that Mechanical Engineering projects are integrated into the overall product development process.
- Identify and evaluate new technologies, tools, and processes that can improve the department's efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure that the department complies with all relevant regulatory and industry standards.
- Manage capital budgets and resources, and make recommendations for capital investments to support the department's growth and development.
- Represent the company in external technical and industry forums, conferences, and meetings, and establish relationships with key stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering in a GMP/FDA environment, including 5+ years in a leadership or management role.
- Medical Device industry experience
- Strong technical expertise in mechanical engineering
- Demonstrated success in leading and managing teams of engineers and technical professionals.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans, budgets, and resource plans.
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory and industry standards.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
