We are seeking a proactive and experienced Transport Manager to lead the road division. You will oversee a team and play a pivotal role in optimising procurement strategies and streamlining processes to meet customer's needs effectively.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement uniform processes across two locations to ensure consistent and efficient operations.
Manage procurement activities, including negotiating rates with transporters to secure the best deals and ensure cost-effectiveness.
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with a network of 100+ transporters to facilitate smooth operations and resolve any issues promptly.
Provide leadership and guidance to the team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
Utilise market knowledge and experience in transport to specialise in different commodities and cater to diverse customer needs.
Collaborate with customer service team to identify opportunities for growth and maximise business potential.
Handle operational tasks such as rate sourcing, file management, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
Requirements:
8+ years of experience in a similar role within the forwarding industry.
Strong market knowledge and experience in trucking, particularly in European markets.
A strong network with existing contact points within transport providers
Proven ability to lead and manage teams effectively, with a focus on driving performance and implementing positive changes.
Excellent negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with transporters and other stakeholders.
Ability to work across multiple locations and split days as necessary.
Proficiency in Dutch is preferred but not essential.
Demonstrated success in optimising procurement strategies.
