The Capital Project Engineer oversees capital investment projects essential for the organization's manufacturing plants. They collaborate with various departments to ensure efficient design, operation, and production optimization throughout the manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the entire lifecycle of capital investment projects, from conception through construction and commissioning, in accordance with project procedures and standard designs.
- Conduct engineering assessments and design plant structures, utility and piping systems, and equipment/applications for capital projects.
- Coordinate with maintenance contractors and assist in developing plant maintenance programs and project needs related to capital investments.
- Ensure projects are executed safely and meet safety compliance requirements, aiming for zero accidents or incidents.
- Control project budgets, prepare forecasts and reports on spending and completion to plan.
- Determine project specifications, schedules, and sequencing of project elements, ensuring timely completion and alignment with organizational goals.
- Review project design, specifications, and plan changes, recommending necessary actions to maintain project control.
Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, industrial or chemical engineering.
- 3+ years of experience in engineering capacity, preferably with a focus on capital investment projects.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Project management experience with emphasis on budget consciousness and post-implementation success sustainability.
- Process and/or Manufacturing Engineering experience
- Entry-level experience using computer-aided design (CAD)/computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in capital project management within manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to capital projects.
- Knowledge of cost estimation techniques and financial analysis related to capital investments.
