As a Procurement Manager specializing in ingredients, you will be responsible for overseeing the sourcing, purchasing, and management of all raw materials and ingredients required for our company's production processes. Your primary objective will be to ensure that our organization secures high-quality ingredients at competitive prices, while also maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and adhering to all relevant regulations and standards. You will collaborate closely with various internal teams such as production, quality assurance, and finance to optimize procurement strategies and contribute to the overall success of our business.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of ingredients while maintaining quality standards.
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on factors such as quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to achieve favorable pricing and service agreements.
- Continuously monitor and analyze market trends, supplier performance, and industry developments to identify opportunities for improvement and risk mitigation within the supply chain.
- Coordinate with production planning and inventory control teams to maintain optimal levels of ingredients inventory, minimizing excess and shortages while maximizing inventory turnover.
- Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure that all ingredients meet required specifications and standards, conducting supplier audits and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Stay informed about relevant regulations, certifications, and industry standards related to ingredient sourcing and procurement. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Monitor and analyze procurement costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement measures to control expenses without compromising quality or service.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders such as production, research and development, sales, and finance to align procurement activities with organizational goals and objectives.
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to ingredient supply, including but not limited to market volatility, supplier disruptions, and geopolitical factors.
- Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of procurement activities, regularly reviewing performance and implementing improvements as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, procurement, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CSCP, CPSM) preferred.
- Proven experience in procurement, preferably in the food or beverage industry, with a focus on ingredient sourcing and management.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Solid understanding of supply chain principles, logistics, and inventory management.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Familiarity with relevant regulations and quality standards (e.g., FDA, ISO, HACCP).
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across different departments and levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and the ability to drive results in a fast-paced environment.
