An industry-leading food manufacturing company is currently seeking an EHS specialist to implement and enhance their Injury Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP).
You will ensure compliance with CCR, Title 8 regulations, and relevant consensus standards, guiding the facility towards exceptional safety standards. Through your exemplary conduct and leadership, you will reinforce their dedication to achieving zero incidents.
Facilitating informative safety town halls, facilitating safety training for employees, and forging robust connections with Safety Champions and safety committees will sustain essential pillars of safety. Regular safety inspections, aligned with CalOSHA standards, will be conducted to ensure timely completion of Action Items, thereby fostering a secure work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversight of Safety Inspections, Action Item Management
- Coordination of Safety Training, including new hires, annual refreshers, specialized topics
- Assistance with Work Planning and Control programs (e.g., Confined Space, Lockout/Tagout)
- Conducting Incident Investigations, Root Cause Analyses
- Management of Emergency Action Plans, First Aid protocols
- General EHS Administration, recordkeeping
- Case Management
- EHS Communication
- Purchase Requests, invoice verification
- Continuous Improvement initiatives
The ideal EHS Specialist candidate will have the following skill set:
- Bachelor's degree in industrial safety, occupational health, environmental science, or industrial hygiene; years of experience may substitute for degree
- ASP/CSP, CSHO, or equivalent certification preferred
- Completion of Cal/OSHA trainings: OSHA-5119, OSHA-511, OSHA-501
- Familiarity with consensus standards, such as NFPA 70E
- 3+ years experience in safety roles in California, preferably in manufacturing
- Proven track record in building and sustaining a safety culture
- Proficiency in IT tools: SAP, SharePoint, MS Office (especially Excel), Sphera; experience with CMMS systems like Maximo, CARL, SAP, ISNetworld, and Alchemy
