Role:
- Develop and maintain robust category strategy by subcategory by region
- Identify/acquire PBU/Corporate regional business requirements
- Support early sourcing initiatives
- Qualify/select/approve suppliers for approved supplier list / PBU / Segment
- Review/communicate category plan with PBU and GSM leadership in region
- Play key role in the "refresh" cycle of category plans.
- Lead Development of the Global Supply Base to meet PBU & Corporate needs & requirements
- Monitor supplier performance and revaluate capabilities
- Create and monitor supplier assessment and development plans (execution owned by the division)
- Develop plan to attain lowest upfront costs/ideal Value Stream performance.
- Build and maintain regional Supplier relationships for major cross PBU suppliers & lead cross-PBU negotiations as required
- Support the negotiation of corporate-wide supplier payment terms and Master Terms & Conditions with PBU support
- Define regional supplier optimization plan by category
- Actively Participate in Category Team meetings and work
- Promote cost management activities to ensure requirements are covered by cost standards and they are maintained and assure appropriate treatment of supplier-specific cost models
- Coordinate/Lead regional Category activities
- Coordinate technical lead & supplier interface resources to continually develop supply base and understand regional market trends/changes
- Assure appropriate technical integration and leadership to:
- Communize specifications & parts
- Serve as engineering liaisons
- Be the Global Category Expert - Centre of Expertise
- Demonstrate tech/ product knowledge & "certify" buyers
- Engage with engineering and PBU staff to assure link & leverage, supply base optimization, and material communization "eye of the needle" opportunities are realized
- Coach/mentor PBU buyers on supplier relationships in line with the category plan
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Commercial etc or above
- Proficient in English
- 5 years or more of experience in indirect material sourcing
- Experience with indirect consumables category infrastructure will be a plus
- Extensive knowledge of global supplier base and manufacturing processes in related categories in Automotive applications
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal and presentation, coaching & mentoring skills
- Ability to manage supplier relationships with absolutes of ethics and integrity & experience working "up front" with suppliers to attain ideal value stream performance
- Skills to analyse supplier financial information and determine manufacturing capability from go to the spot assessment
- Global Perspective, Goal Oriented Problem Solving Skills
- Excellent computer skills such as MS Excel and Words. SAP will be a plus.
